1, Ayala (Mackerel)
Mackerel is the most consumed food fish over the globe. This fish is rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Mackerel typically have vertical stripes on their back and deeply forked tails.

Cobia has an elongated spindle shaped body and a board, flattened head. Fish is smooth with small scales and coloured dark brown grading to white on the belly with two darker brown horizontal bands on the flanks.

River Snapper feature a sloped profile, having medium to large scale, a spiny dorsal fin and a lateral compressed body. Coloration is light red, with more intense pigment on the back. They are high priced food fish caught commercially.

4, Sheelavu (Barracuda)
Large sized fish have long, fairy compressed and covered with small, smooth scales. It’s a Marine Fish coloured dark blue, dark green or grey on its upper body and silvery on side and white belly. They are most eaten as fillets or steaks.

5, Poomeen (Milkfish)
Milkfish has a generally symmetrical and streamlined appearance with a sizable forked caudal fin. Milkfish is notorious for being much bonier than other fishes.

6, Konju (Prawns) & Cheemeen (Shrimps)
They are the having highest commercial significance in food fish industry. The delicious taste and spongy flesh make them favourite for all. Shrimps are the smaller type and Prawns are larger type of these.

7, Kunthal (Squid)
Squid is a good food source for Zinc, Manganese, and high in copper, selenium, vitamin B12 and riboflavin. The body can be stuffed whole, cut into pieces, or sliced into rings. The arms, tentacles and the ink are also edible, but the beak and gladius are not.

8, Sharvu (Shark)
Shark meat is palatable and nutritious if it’s properly made. It’s being popular now and its have higher protein and nutritious value.

9, Kozhua (Indian Anchovy)
Anchovy is a small, green fish with blue reflection due to a silver stripe. Anchovy is used to fry, make pickles, sauce and curry.

10, Kilimeen (Threadfin Bream)
Threadfin is high in Omega 3 Fatty acids which helps you stay healthy. Threadfins have elongated body with pink silvery scales. Threadfin bream have fine textured flesh and a sweet and delicious flavour. These are best for fry, barbecuing and curry.

11, VATTA (Bluefin Trevally)
Bluefin Trevally is fish found in grey colour body with blue/black spots scattered on mid to rear body. The fish is good for fry and curry.

12, Karimeen (Green Chromide)
Karimeen is the official fish of Kerala. Karimeen is prominent dish for keralites, especially Karimeen Fry, Karimeen Molly and Karimeen Pollichathu are delicacy dishes for Malayali.

13, Neymeen (King Fish/Seer Fish)
