Have you tried Oats Puttu? It’s the perfect option for a nutritious and delicious breakfast. Here’s the recipe. Try it.
Oats – 1.5 cups
Finely Grated Coconut – 1/4 cup
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Crushed Cumin (Jeerakam) – 1/4 tsp
Water – 1/4 to 1/2 cup
How to Make?
Step 1:: Grind the oats to fine powder
Step 2: Take the powdered oats in a bowl. Add 1/4 tsp of salt, crushed cumin and 2 tbsp grated coconut to the oats flour. Mix well.
Step 3: Sprinkle the water little by little while mixing the flour with your handle. Make sure that you don’t add excess water that the flour turns out to be dough. Keep it wet with a powdery consistency
Step 4: Compared to rice powder, oats flour will be much more sticky. So you need to pulse the wet flour immediately in a mixie. So that there won’t be any lumps.
Step 5: Fill the puttu kudam( steamer) with water. Add 1 tsp of grated coconut to the bottom of the puttu kutti( Utensil that holds the flour). Add spoonsful of flour to the puttu kutti till you reach the middle portion. Fill some grated coconut. Again add flour and fill the top with 1tbs grated coconut. Close the puttu kutti with the lid.
Step 6: Steam for around 5 mins until it is fluffy and cooked.
Serve hot with Banana or spicy kadala curry.
