Onam Special Thakkali Rasam

Ingredients:
- Tomatoes : 2
- Coriander Leaves
- Green chilies : 3
- Garlic : 3
- Peppercorns: 10
- Cumin seeds : 2 tsp
- Fennel seeds : 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Tamarind : lemon sized ball
- Oil
- Urad dal : 1 tsp
- Asafoetida : a pinch
- Whole red chilies : 2
Instructions:
Grind tomatoes and coriander leaves and green chilies together. And keep this paste aside. Now you grind garlic, peppercorns, cumin seeds and fennel seeds into smooth paste. In a bowl, add tamarind paste, ground tomato paste and ground garlic, pepper mixture. Then add half cup of water to it. Mix it well, add turmeric powder, salt to taste. In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, asafoetida, whole red chilies and the curry leaves. After it sputters add the rasam mixture in to the pan. Remove it from heat, when it boils. Now you can add coriander leaves and serve.
