Rava Idli is can be made quick and its easy and simple to cook. We can make the Idle batter within few minutes. Rava is used to make batter here and i have also added cashew nuts, dal and spice for better taste.
The best thing about rava idli is no grinding and fermenting is not required as normal idle. And can be prepared and cooked in less time than Idli.
You can have Rava idli as your breakfast or evening snacks or even as dinner.
Rava idli can be served with chutney or sambar upon individual taste and likes.
Rava Idli Recipe
Prep Time: 35 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Rava - 1 cup
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup
- Baking Soda - a pinch
- Water - as required
- Chopped green chilli - 1
- Chopped ginger - 1/2
- Cashews - as required
- Ghee or oil - 2 to 3 tablespoon
- Salt - as required
- Chana dal - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped curry leaves - 8-10
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Mustard seed - 1 tablespoon
Roast the rava in pan with 2 tablespoon oil to light golden yellow. Keep it aside and fry the cashews in ghee and keep it aside. Fry the chana dal, curry leaves and asafoetida with splutter mustard seed. Add these to Roasted Rava and add curd/yogurt with chopped ginger, green chilli and salt. Add water as required and cover the batter for 20-30 mins. Before steaming add a pinch of baking powder in the batter and pour the batter to oil greased idli moulds. Cook for 10-12 minutes. Take out the idli from the moulds and serve with chutney or sambar.
